Position Players

Logan O’Hoppe – The Backstop of the Future

If the Angels are going to contend in 2025 or make a leap, Logan O’Hoppe needs to take a major step forward. He’s not just the team’s catcher—he’s the foundation behind the plate. With elite defensive potential, a strong arm, and the ability to call a great game, O’Hoppe has all the tools to be a franchise cornerstone.

But what truly makes him special is his offensive upside. His bat has flashed All-Star potential, and a big season could cement him as one of the league’s top young catchers. The Angels need O’Hoppe to be a force in the lineup, bringing power and consistency to a position that often lacks offensive punch. If he puts it all together, he could be the best homegrown catcher the Angels have had in years.

Nolan Schanuel – The On-Base Machine

Nolan Schanuel is one of the most fascinating young hitters in the organization. While his power numbers haven’t fully developed yet, his elite plate discipline and ability to draw walks make him an on-base machine. Few players his age have his level of pitch recognition, and that skill alone gives him a high offensive floor.

What the Angels are hoping for in 2025 is a leap in power production. His bat speed has improved, and if that translates into more hard contact, he could emerge as a legitimate middle-of-the-order threat. Ideally, the team would love to see Schanuel hit around .280 with a .350+ OBP, 25+ doubles, and 15-25 home runs. If he reaches those marks, he’ll be a major asset at the top of the lineup.

Jorge Soler – The Power Bat in the Heart of the Order

The Angels’ biggest offensive addition this offseason, Jorge Soler, brings much-needed power to the lineup. When healthy and locked in, Soler is one of the most dangerous sluggers in the game. The Angels are banking on him providing thump in the cleanup spot, driving in runs, and keeping pitchers honest.

For this team to maximize its potential, Soler needs to be the kind of run-producer they envisioned when trading for him. Ideally, they’d love to see him hit 25-30 home runs while providing steady production as the team's power threat. If he can be that presence in the lineup, it will take pressure off the rest of the offense and make the Angels a much more dangerous team.
