Finally, the Draft is Here!
Another draft day, another golden opportunity to inject high-impact talent into the Angels’ system. With the No. 2 overall pick and three selections in the top 100, this is a pivotal moment for the Angels' front office. Armed with a bonus pool of $16,656,400, there's room to get creative—make a statement early, and still swing big later in the day.
Here’s how I’d approach the Angels’ first few picks:
Pick #2
Slot Value: ~$10.2 million
My Pick: Seth Hernandez — $8.5 million
It's clear as day—Seth Hernandez is the best pitching prospect in this draft. He has true front-of-the-rotation potential, pairing a plus fastball with a devastating plus-plus changeup. He checks every box for the type of pitcher you want to invest in at the top of the draft.
Other Considerations:
Eli Willits — $8 million
Chase Arnold — $8 million
Cam Doyle — $7 million
Ike Irish — $7 million
Pick #47
My Pick: Brady Ebel (SS/3B) — $2.5 million (~$500k over-slot)
The son of former Angels coach Dino Ebel, Brady is one of the youngest players in this draft class. Though most project him to move to third base, his 6’3” frame and athleticism give him legitimate upside to develop into a key long-term piece.
Other Considerations:
Dean Curley
Ryan Mitchell
Pick #79
My Pick: Luke Hill — $850k (~$350k under-slot)
Pick #109
My Pick: Jacob Parker (HS) — $1.5 million (~$800k over-slot)
